It first manifests in the aftermath of his murder by the Guilty Remnant, when he awakens in a hotel room and must descend into a well to reach a deeper level of his afterlife. This well is dry at first, but filling it with water—by completing tasks or making sacrifices—allows Kevin to progress through his personal purgatory. The well's water is tied to themes of baptism, cleansing, and rebirth, reflecting Kevin's struggle with guilt, his father's madness, and his role as a reluctant messiah.

In Their Own Story

Kevin stands at the edge of the well, the stone rim cold under his hands. Below, darkness yawns, empty and waiting. He remembers the gunshot, the feel of concrete against his back. Now, he must climb down, rope burning his palms, into the void where his father's voice echoes. At the bottom, he finds a single drop of water—his first step toward redemption. He fills the well with his own tears, his own blood, until the water rises and he can swim upward, into the light of another strange world.
